Fall Favourites from My Kitchen
Maple Pecan Granola fresh out of the oven
There’s something about fall that makes me want to slow down, light a candle, put on a cozy sweater, and romanticize the little moments that make this season so special. Lately, that has looked like spending more time in the kitchen, experimenting with cozy fall flavours, and finding little ways to make everyday routines feel a bit more magical.
As a mom, I’ve been loving finding ways to include Sofia in these little rituals, too. We recently spent some time in the kitchen making a couple of my new favourite fall recipes together, and it was such a sweet reminder that sometimes the simplest moments become the most memorable ones. A little mess, lots of taste-testing, and something delicious to enjoy at the end — what more could you ask for?
These two recipes have quickly become staples in our home, and for good reason. They’re full of warm, comforting fall flavours, easy to make, and perfect for adding a little seasonal magic to your morning coffee or afternoon snack. If you’re looking for a little inspiration to make your own fall days feel cozier, I hope you give them a try. Here’s to a season filled with cozy mornings, warm flavours, and a little more time spent enjoying the moment!
1. Homemade Maple Pecan Coffee Syrup
If there’s one thing that makes a morning coffee feel extra special, it’s a homemade seasonal syrup. This maple pecan coffee syrup has become one of my favourite ways to bring a little fall flavour into my everyday routine. It’s sweet, nutty, and full of that warm maple flavour that feels like fall in a cup.
I love adding it to my morning latte for a coffee-shop-inspired drink at home. It’s such a simple little ritual, but it makes an ordinary morning feel a bit more intentional — especially when the weather starts to cool down.
Ingredients
1 cup pecans
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup maple syrup
1 cup water
Vanilla extract, to taste
A pinch of sea salt
Instructions
Add the pecans, brown sugar, maple syrup, and water to a saucepan over medium heat.
Let the mixture simmer until it begins to bubble and thicken, stirring occasionally.
Remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool.
Once cooled, add a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt.
Strain or remove the pecans as desired, then transfer the syrup to a bottle or airtight jar and store in the refrigerator.
My favourite way to enjoy it: Add a splash to your morning latte, top with frothed milk, and sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. It’s the perfect cozy fall coffee to sip while easing into the day.
And don’t toss those leftover pecans! They’re perfect for the next recipe.
2. Maple Pecan Granola
Homemade granola is one of those things that feels a little luxurious but is surprisingly simple to make. This maple pecan granola is crunchy, slightly sweet, and filled with all the warm flavours I crave this time of year.
The combination of maple syrup, pecans, and pumpkin spice makes the whole kitchen smell incredible while it bakes. It’s also a great way to use the leftover pecans from the coffee syrup, making these two recipes the perfect pair.
This was also such a fun one to make with Sofia. I love getting her involved in little kitchen activities, whether that means helping mix ingredients or sneaking a taste along the way. These are the kinds of everyday moments I want to make more room for as the seasons change.
Ingredients
4 cups rolled oats
½ cup melted butter
½ cup maple syrup
A generous sprinkle of pumpkin spice
Leftover pecans from the coffee syrup recipe
Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, melted butter, maple syrup, pumpkin spice, leftover pecans, and a sprinkle of sea salt.
Mix until the oats are evenly coated and the ingredients begin to bind together.
Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on it, as oven times can vary.
Allow the granola to cool completely before breaking it into clusters.
Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh and crunchy.
My favourite way to enjoy it: Sprinkle it over Greek yogurt with sliced apples, add it to a smoothie bowl, or simply grab a handful when you want something crunchy and delicious. It’s also lovely with a drizzle of maple syrup and a little extra cinnamon.
